Skills You’ll Need to Become a Member

Technical Skills

• Proficient in wheel-throwing and hand-building techniques.
• Basic understanding of glaze application.
• Basic knowledge of clay and firing temperatures (e.g., cone 5/6 vs. cone 04 or cone 10).
• Competent in using studio equipment like slab rollers and extruders.
• Familiar with kiln scheduling and optimizing firing loads for efficiency.
• Able to independently manage project workflows from start to finish.
• Familiarity with different clay bodies (stoneware, porcelain, earthenware) and their appropriate uses.
• Understanding of clay preparation techniques, including wedging and reclaiming.
